Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning
The Safety Standard- Why NFPA 96 Matters?
A significant number of commercial kitchen fires are caused by grease accumulation. At ACME DUCT, we strictly follow NFPA 96 (Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations).

Our IKECA-certified technicians deep-clean your entire exhaust system from the kitchen hood to the rooftop fan, to remove flammable grease residue and meet fire safety insurance requirements.
IKECA Certified- The Gold Standard in Kitchen Hygiene
As an IKECA-certified (International Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning Association) service provider, we utilize the ANSI/IKECA C10 Standard. This is the gold standard for methodology, ensuring:
Thoroughness
Cleaning inaccessible areas that non-certified cleaners often skip.
Methodology
Using specialized degreasers and mechanical scraping to achieve the "Bare Metal" standard.
Verification
Grease depth-gauge testing to ensure grease accumulation is within safe limits.
IKECA/NFPA 96 Kitchen Exhaust Inspection Frequency Table
Cooking Volume/Type | Inspection Frequency |
|---|---|
Solid fuel cooking (wood/charcoal) | Monthly |
High-volume (24-hour, charbroiling, wok) | Quarterly (Every 3 months) |
Moderate-volume (Typical restaurant) | Semi-annually (Every 6 months) |
Low-volume (Churches, day camps, seasonal) | Annually (Once a year) |
Our Comprehensive Process
Step 1: Site Protection & Prep
We cover your cooking equipment and floors in heavy-duty plastic to ensure zero cross-contamination. Electrical components are shielded, and the workspace is secured before any cleaning begins.
Step 2: Industrial De-greasing
Our team applies food-safe degreasers to the hood, plenum, and duct interiors. This chemical treatment breaks down heavy grease and carbon buildup that standard cleaning misses.
Step 3: Human Access Cleaning/Confined Space
Technicians physically enter the ductwork (where size permits). This allows for manual scraping and detailed cleaning of horizontal runs and corners that are unreachable, ensuring a true "Bare Metal" finish.
Step 4: Rooftop Fan & Housing Maintenance
We clean the exhaust fan blades and housing on the roof. If required, we install NFPA-compliant hinge kits and access doors to ensure the entire system can be inspected and maintained safely.
Step 5: Verification, Certification, & Compliance Tagging
We provide a photo-documented report and apply a Certified Service Sticker to your hood for fire department and insurance verification.
